Artifacts

An artifact is something a session leaves behind that is worth keeping — a report or one-pager Pér wrote for you, or a file you brought into a conversation. It outlives the chat that produced it, and you can hand it to someone else.

Artifacts are the part of Pér’s work that becomes an object: something to open next month, export, or share with the people who have to act on it. They belong to the Learn stage of the customer decision loop.

What an artifact is

Artifacts come from two places: Pér publishes one, or you upload one.

Both end up on the Artifacts page, easily findable instead of buried in the conversation you attached it to.

  • Reports, pages and documents are Pér’s work. Ask for a readout, a one-pager or a tear sheet and it publishes one you can open on its own.

  • Files are yours — everything you attach to a conversation is recorded here too. See Attaching a file.

  • An uploaded file is kept until you delete it. Nothing expires it.

Note

What is kept for a file you uploaded is the text Pér read out of it, not the original file. For a spreadsheet or a PDF that means the content, not the formatting — this is a record of what Pér worked from, not a copy of your document. Deleting the artifact takes that record off the Artifacts page; the conversation you attached the file to keeps its own copy of what Pér read.

Publishing an artifact changes nothing in Amperity, so it needs no approval. Pér writes it, and it appears. (What does need approval, and why, is in Approvals and write confirmations.)

Who can see one

An artifact is private to the person who made it until they share it.

  • Private by default. An artifact Pér publishes for you, and a file you upload, are yours alone.

  • Sharing is to everyone in your tenant, not to named people. There is no per-person sharing.

  • Only the owner can share or stop sharing. Nobody else sees those controls, and an artifact shared with you stays read-only.

  • Stopping sharing takes access back from everyone, including anyone who has it open. Pér asks you to confirm before it does.

Note

The list shows your 200 most recent artifacts and says so when there are more.

Changing and deleting

Pér can rework an artifact it wrote, and you can delete any of your own. Deleting is final.

  • Asking for a change rewrites the same artifact. It does not produce a separate artifact. Keep working on it in the conversation that produced it — a bigger headline, another section, different framing — and you end up with one artifact, not a pile of near-identical ones.

  • Pér cannot edit a file you uploaded. That is your document; Pér can only publish its own work alongside it.

Important

Deleting an artifact is permanent, and it cannot be undone. Deleting one you had shared removes it for everyone on your team. Pér cannot bring a deleted artifact back — asked for it again, it writes a new one from scratch.

Taking an artifact with you

Any artifact can be downloaded as a PDF.

The common case for a report is sending it to someone who does not use Pér. The PDF carries real text rather than a picture of it, so it can be searched, selected and quoted.

An artifact you created also links back to the conversation it came from, so the reasoning behind a report is one click away from the report itself. Deleting that chat does not delete the artifact — see Deleting a chat.

  2. Confirm.

To delete an artifact

  1. On an artifact you own, click Delete.

  2. Read what the confirmation says it will remove, then confirm.
